OUTDOOR LEADERSHIP PROGRAMS (OLP)

These are youth-led, leader-guided program that allows NDG youth ages 13-17 to play an active role in all aspects of their program while being supported by qualified outdoor leaders. Our activities combine outdoor adventure, leadership training and personal development that fosters a sense of responsibility, confidence and teamwork among participants.

All necessary equipment is provided free of charge. Youth may decide to organize fund raising activities for special activities or equipment.

Through weekly meetings, workshops, wilderness trips and community projets, participating youth are empowered to develop their personal leadership skills while giving back to their own community.

Fall Sessions 2024.

Registration new teens start Friday, October 18th, 2024
Benny Center 18h – 21h (Drop by 6:30-8 pm for more details)
Program is free of charge – Limited number of spaces available.
OLP Leadership 1 12-15 yrs (Sec 1,2,3)
OLP Leadership 2 15-17 yrs (Sec 4,5)
TRAINING & CERTIFICATIONS 16+ yrs

OLP Leadership 1 .

Seasonal outdoor activities for youth aged 12 to 15. (SEC 1, 2, 3)

Open to NDG teenagers interested in trying out new outdoor activities.
Weekly meetings and activity planning; Fridays from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm
Regular participation is important.
Activities are determined by the group.
- Fall examples; hiking, biking, field trip, Halloween.
- Winter examples; snowshoeing, X/C skiing, winter trip, winter carnival
- Spring/Summer examples; canoeing, hiking, biking, wilderness trip, Outdoor movies.
- No previous experience necessry.

Youth participate in community events and raise funds to pay for their activities.

OLP Leadership 2 .

Year-round Outdoor Leadership Program -youth 15-17 yrs. (Sec 4, 5)

Open to NDG teens interested in organizing year-round outdoor recreation programs.
Youth identify, plan and organize their activities.
Meetings & workshops; Fridays 6-9pm
Field Trips; Saturdays or Sundays 7am – 5pm September – April.
Wilderness Camping Trips; Fall, Winter, Summer,
Organizing community events throughout the year ;GYM Camping Trip, Winter Carnival, Movies in Park…
Outdoor Certification courses throughout the year;
